| Al Owais Board of Trustees Discuss 2010 Plan |

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Thursday, 4 March 2010, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. During the meeting the Board reviewed key aspects of the Foundation's performance in 2009, as well as its administrative and cultural report, its annual financial report, and its final account for 2009. Additionally, the Board discussed the 2010 budget, which was consequently approved and adopted.
The Foundation's Secretary-General, Mr. Abdul Hamid Ahmed, commented that the Board of Trustees reviewed the final preparations for the closing ceremony of the 11th session of Al Owais Awards, and the administrative report submitted to the Board by the General Secretariat for the period 1/1/2009 to 31/12/2009. The report covered the Al Owais Awards which drew 1183 candidates up to 28/2/2009 as set out in the Foundation's internal regulations. An advisory committee was created to jury the Awards of the 11th session which culminated in the victory of poet Abdul Aziz Al Maqaleh, critic Abdul Salam Masdi, scholar Jalal Ameen, novelist Al Tahar Wattar, and honoring Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak with the Cultural and Scientific Achievement Award.
The Secretary-General elaborated: The Board of Trustees reviewed the steps necessary for electronic archiving, and the Foundation's library, publications, training courses and cultural activity during 2009. The Board commended the efforts of the General Secretariat and the cultural activities it realized, and he went on to thank its members for their effort in promoting the Foundation's status and fortifying its active presence within the community. He recommended that they continue to follow the same approach in the future.
In conclusion the Secretary-General, Abdul Hamid Ahmed, added: The Board of Trustees discussed several ideas concerning its cultural efforts, the means of raising the standards of this work, and the cultural plan for 2010. It was also briefed on the progress in developing the Foundation's website, and it recommended that the audio and visual libraries be developed and cared for.
