| Azmi Bishara Signs To Be an Arab Today in Aleppo |

Aleppo city celebrated Palestinian thinker Dr. Azmi Bishara who gave a lecture in front of an audience that filled the theater at the Directorate of Culture in Aleppo. The event which took place on Wednesday evening, 21st July 2010, was followed by a book signing of his new book entitled To Be an Arab Today, and was attended by a very prominent official and popular presence. The evening commenced with a discussion of the ideas presented by the author in his book, and ended with the signing of his latest publication as well as his early book entitled: On the Arab Issue: An Introduction to an Arab Democratic Statement Issued by the Center for Arab Unity Studies.
To be an Arab Today, consists of 239 pages and is divided into three main sections: Arab Issues, American Variables at the End of the Bush Era, and Palestine and the Palestinian Cause. Through his book, Dr. Bishara presents a series of studies and lectures on the issue of the Renaissance of Arab identity and modernity which he delivered during the period from mid-2007 to the beginning of 2009. He also linked the fate of Arab nationalism to its ability to accept the tasks and challenges of modern society and the modern era. The book also addressed the modernization process and the task of linking between renewed Arab thought to the project of nation-building, and the importance of identifying demands and programs in this regard so that are understandable to the public and so that the public may link them to their material interests and rights as citizens.
