The exhibition, held under His Highness' auspices and organized by Dubai International Financial Cente, will take place from 17th – 20th March at the Madinat Jumeirah. Sheikh Mohammed commenced his tour of the exhibition by visiting "The Poetry of Time" display by world renowned jewelry house - Van Cleef & Arpels.
Sheikh Mohammed as accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, all of whom enjoyed viewing the unique and creative designs of rare and precious watches, and the various stages in the creation of these handmade works of art for which the French house has been famous for nearly 100 years.
Over 70 art houses, 500 artists and 1500 paintings took part in this 4th edition of Art Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed toured the art galleries, and listened to the curators and artists as they explained their works of art, techniques and symbolism, and the emotions which translate the artists' vision into pieces of art.
The Ruler of Dubai welcomed the presence of this elite group of worldwide artists and creative people in the UAE alongside their Emirati counterparts.
His Highness considered this exhibition as a reflection of the importance of human relations and the convergence of cultures and civilizations – something which the UAE is keen to instill among the people of the UAE and the rest of the world.
Sheikh Mohammed commented as he spoke to the managers of the exhibition: "Art, in all its forms and fields, is the simplest and most powerful way to introduce cultures and societies to one another, and to invoke harmony between them; because art is much closer to human nature than politics, as it represents the art of the possible and it cannot be the art of the impossible such as history, for example."
The Ruler of Dubai spoke of how the works of art by great artists throughout history still stand at museums of history, and are continuously appreciated by people from generation to generation.
The presence of international works of art, paintings, and sculptures in various homes in the Arab world and around the world only serves to confirm that art is immortal and cannot be erased from the memory of the peoples of this world. |
